Yes everyone…Babbzy bout hay!!!

Quick question for you all cause you know I am slow sometimes and don’t understand things.

When did Caribbean folks start celebrating Halloween?

I mean, I grew up in the 80’s my parents left Barbados in the early 70’s and they didn’t even know what Halloween was. As a child, I never got to dress up and walk around collecting candy. Maybe I was deprived but we just never engaged in that. As I have always stated, cultrally I grew up in a Bajan home.

Fast forward to 2016. I know being in the social media age everyone can see what everyone ELSE is doing. But what I find strange is WHY would people in the Caribbean celebrate Halloween?

Since I started blogging I always noticed this but as time goes on this seems to be getting WORSE.

Do you know why you are celebrating this day? Do you know why you dressing up in costumes? Or are you just going along with some kind of trend?

I don’t think Canada or the USA would ever celebrate “Independence” of any Caribbean nation. Don’t care how cute people dress up or how good the food is for that period. I don’t see it happening.

I don’t see many other ethnic groups engaging in North American traditions. Chinese people celebrate their OWN new year. Jewish people (not a race by the way) have their own holidays that they celebrate even though they live in North America.

But Caribbean folks, it’s becoming seemingly easy to have them engage in NONSENSE just because they see others doing it.

Not everything you see people doing is FOR your, nor does it actually make sense for you to engage in it esepcially if you have no CLUE why you are doing it.

Then again, we live in a world where people dashed a bucket of ice cold water over their head for charity… what was the charity name again? How much money did they make? Someone drop me a line!!!

Ah gone!!
